    BELL H-13 SIOUX
   Status: Active

My Bell is not only the first scratchbuilt helicopter I've completed but also the first scale helicopter for me.  It was constructed from my own drawings from hardwood dowels and balsa and utilizes a clear acrylic globe from a yard light for the canopy.

Rotor Span:  54"
Length:  62"
Powerplant:  OS 46 SXH with Heli-Max pipe
Weight: 10lbs.

The Bell H-13 was very well know for it's role as a vietnam air ambulance, and made even more famous by the TV show "MASH".  But the Bell 47 design was also utilized in air and sea rescue roles as well as gunfighter/ground attack missions.  Many are still flying today.

FAIRCHILD PT-23
Status: Active

The second of two Fairchild PT's, this was the first to feature split flaps and Stits covering.  Originally constructed as a PT-26, this airframe was rebuilt as a PT-19 following a crash in 2006 in Owatonna, MN.  It once again took to the air on June 4, 2011 at Wellnitz Field in Fond du Lac, WI, but sadly it found its way back to the shop just 5 flight flights later the exact same way it did in Owatonna; sudden engine flame-out and caught a bush with the left wingtip on final approach.  Now rebuilt once more as a PT-23, I'm hoping that the third time is the charm.

You can find the rebuild here
This is also the test plane for my homemade LED nav light system.

Span:  88"
Powerplant:  Wolf Stinger 25cc prototype
Proposed Weight: 20lbs.

BOWERS FLY-BABY
Status: Restoration

This Fly-Baby, built from a Dynaflite kit, was originally my father's and served for many seasons before being retired to a shelf.  I pulled it down the winter of 2011-12 and decided to refurbish the plane and get it airborne again.  The high-performance YS .91AC which was not a good match for this airframe is being replaced with an OS 91 Surpass II surrounded by a new cowling, the tail which suffered some damage while in storage will be repaired, and finally the plane will be covered with Koverall and painted with latex.

Span: 84"
Powerplant: OS .91 Surpass II w/Pump
Proposed Weight: 15lbs.
